MotoGP Evolution of a Species by Duke Video |

This is the Official MotoGP Documentary which tells the fascinating story behind the development of the motorcycles which make up the grid of the premier class of motorcycle racing. In 100 minutes, this DVD charts the various changes and the development of the prototype bikes, starting in 2002 with the first of the new four-stroke machines right up to those bikes competing in this year’s 2009 championship. The programme is split into chapters, each one profiling each of the major manufacturers, using interviews with riders, team mangers, ex riders like Schwantz, Spencer etc and factory staff to tell the story. The machines profiled include all the icons - the Ducati Desmosedici, Honda RCV, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR, Suzuki GSV-R and Yamaha YZR-M1. Plus, there’s a look at the efforts of Aprilia, KR, Ilmor, Moriwaki and the Harris WCM. It covers the early days of the 990cc motorcycles to the advent of the 800cc machines, charting all the major developments which have influenced designs, and results. There are also bonus features which include a detailed study of all the machines on the 2009 MotoGP gird, plus a glimpse of the future with a look at the new-for-2010 Moto2 class. It would be naïve to think that you would get a really detailed technical close-up of the motorcycles and an explanation of what hides beneath engine casings and fairings. However, this is the very best behind-the-scenes insight from the factories and pit garages that you are every likely to officially get on current machines. Certainly after watching this you understand a lot more and even when watching the action clips taken from races, you have a better idea of what to watch for during corner shots etc. You can also understand how the factories have got to the bikes that now sit on the grid. As usual the quality from any Duke package is excellent, the programme well thought out and produced in a logical manner, which also helps you dip in and out of it at a later date if you need to check something about a particular manufacturer or bike. MotoGP fans and techno geeks will love it, I know I did!
